Little Free Library!  I was so excited when I saw this.  I have actually wanted to build one of these for about a year now but don’t have the space or tools.  The idea is pretty self explanatory: it’s a little house-shaped box with a clear front and a door that holds books.  Similar to The Book Thing (which is conveniently just a few blocks away), it is a take-a-book/leave-a-book setup with no one monitoring it.

I was surprised at the amount of thought that went into it.  What grabbed my attention the most was the door.  The clear window is a relatively thick plastic that will not shatter like glass.  The door has a magnetic closure like the ones found on household cabinets; the door is also spring-loaded to prevent it from being accidentally left open to the elements.

Kudos to Village Learning Place for setting it up.  For those unaware, it’s a nonprofit library based in Charles Village that hosts educational events and provides information resources.  For instance, one of their current events/info sessions/lectures is about how to deal with the ins and outs of finances in a number of sessions.

Nothing to add to this post except, how flippin’ cute is this?!
