1/3/2014 – OPENING NIGHT: WE’VE SEEN HOW STRANGE THINGS CAN GET AT NIGHT: PHOTOGRAPHS BY PATRICK JOUST at Atomic Books

I’m really looking forward to this event. I listed Patrick Joust on my list of favorite Baltimore blogs months ago so it’ll be nice to check out prints.

Bring A Date?
Art shows are a really low key date, especially when it’s not something too lofty and abstract like this. The photos are of Baltimore & Maryland so you’ll have a base for discussion. If you grew up here, you can tell stories about Artscape or the suburbs, and if you’re new, you can find inspiration for where to visit next. Either way, it’s perfect to open up to your date considering how close to home the subject matter is.

If you want to get fancy, make a reservation at one of the restaurants on the Avenue first (Corner BYOB is a winner, though it seems like The Food Market is where the cool kids are hanging) or get unfancy and go get tacos at Holy Frijoles first.

A framed print would make a good Valentine’s Day gift for those that, ya know, have a person to buy V Day gifts for…

Find A Date?
Well, you’re in luck because, not only is Eightbar great, it has been announced that Celebrated Summer, next door,  is opening a Hatebar starting this Friday! As one comment said, “Please may this not be a joke.” This is an easy sell, start the night early looking at records, buy yourself & someone a drink, look at some art together, then hit the avenue.

TL;DR
We’ve seen how strange things can get at night (in Hampden)…
