THE WIRE POSTER PROJECT at  D Center Baltimore – 2/4 – 5PM to 8PM

Ahh, this is going to be amazing! The Wire Poster project consists of 60 typographic posters from the epigrams preceding each episode of The Wire. They’ll be on display at D Center Baltimore (two doors down from Windup Space) through the rest of February but tonight is opening night with speakers including the artist, Oliver Munday. Proceeds from the sales benefit the Baltimore Urban Debate League.

Bring A Date?
Find someone that loves The Wire (who doesn’t?) and head up to Station North. You can start at 5 viewing the posters and do some chatting. You may want to grab some food  before going to Windup Space (they’ll let you bring it in) for the artist networking at 6 and to hear the Baltimore based artists that will be speaking about design. You can bring someone that’s never seen The Wire but you probably shouldn’t bring someone that doesn’t care about The Wire…

Find A Date?
If you’re less concerned with the design talk, you should stay in the gallery. You can strike up so many conversations with people about any  episode or discuss how Season 4 is obviously the best. Head over to Red Emma’s (they’re open til 10) and dive deeper into the current state of Baltimore because if you can hang with a conversation about poverty, crime and art at a radical collective upon first meeting, you’ve got an interesting (and possibly volatile) relationship ahead of you.

TL;DR
“It’s Baltimore, gentlemen; the Gods will not save you.”

P.S. – If you can’t make it, you can view & purchase all the posters online & the closing night is Saturday, March 1st.

The Closing Reception for The Wire Poster Project is on 3/1. Check it out before it’s gone.
