Cirque du Soleil: Varekai

So a few weeks back I went to Vegas for the first time. I’m not much for gambling, but I love shows so we checked out Absinthe and Cirque du Soleil’s Zumanity. If you know what these shows are, you’d get the theme ;-).

So in a few weeks, Cirque du Soleil is coming to Baltimore. This show is Varekai, self-described as “a captivating forest inhabited by whimsical and enchanted creatures”. This show is a whole lot more family friendly than the Vegas show which means it’ll be appealing to a wider audience. Shows go from July 8-12. More info at cirquedusoleil.com/varekai.

Bring a Date?
Tickets aren’t cheap (starting at $52 after Ticketmaster fees) so it’s probably not a first date kind of activity but a few dates in, it’d be a great date to mix things up. I once went on a third date to the circus. Cirque du Soleil is basically a fancy circus date! There’s acrobats, gymnasts on swings, aerial straps and more without the whole torturing animals thing.

It’s right at the RoFo arena so public transit is plenty. Do yourself a favor and don’t drive and pay $32 to park. If you’re going to make a day of it, I’d suggest Kona Grill if you want to be fancy without the Capital Grille or Fogo prices.

Find a Date?
Since you’ve got the whole assigned seats thing happening, if you’re single go in a group. Hopefully, you’re seated next to another group of like-minded 20 and 30 somethings and can make friends. If that fails, feel things out during intermission. Afterwards, head to Shake Shack because nothing goes as well with a fancy circus as fancy cheeseburgers.

TL;DR
Go on a circus date without being the weirdos at the circus without kids.
